Illuminate Your Outdoor Party with Festive Lighting Ideas

If you are planning to host an outdoor Christmas party this year, then you are going to need some fun and festive decorations. Whether you are having a cocktail party or a big family gathering, these decoration ideas will help set the mood and create the perfect atmosphere for your guests:

  • Decorate your front porch with greenery and wreaths. If there are any flower boxes outside the house, fill them with flowers or pine boughs. Hang colorful lights from the eaves of the house and other parts of the front porch. You can also hang Christmas stockings on either side of the front door. Use large red bows on them to add more color to the overall look of your home’s exterior during this festive season.
  • If you have a fireplace inside your home, decorate it with holly branches and wreaths made out of holly leaves and berries. You can also use pine cones as decoration pieces around your fireplace mantelpiece or hearth area if there’s enough room for them in there.
  • Decorate your house with lights and garlands. Lighted wreaths, outdoor trees and bushes, and other decorations will add life to any home. You can also use colored lights to light up your yard during the evening.
  • Place artificial snowflakes on your windows and doors for a winter wonderland effect.
  • Use pine boughs, holly branches and other evergreens to decorate the exterior of your home or apartment building.
  • Hang stockings from the branches of trees or from the eaves of porches with the help of string lights or twinkling lights to add more color to your front yard or patio area during Christmas time.
  • Light up your garden with string lights. They’re inexpensive and easy to install. If you want something a little more elaborate, try using solar powered lights or stringing them around the edges of your patio deck.
  • Add some color to your party with festive colored paper lanterns. Hang them from trees and bushes or place them on tables as centerpieces (to keep flies away).
  • Create paper snowflakes by cutting out shapes from white paper (or colored paper) and gluing them together with glue stick. Hang these up in trees or gardens for an instant winter wonderland look.
  • Hang holiday-themed banners from trees and posts around the yard. You might want to consider making these banners yourself or purchasing them from local stores such as Walmart or Target.
  • You can decorate your backyard or front yard with different types of lights such as fairy lights, string lights, solar powered lights etc. If you want to add more color and vibrancy to your landscape, then consider installing colored lights in different shades like red, green or blue etc. You can choose one color or mix them together depending on how colorful you want your landscape to look like.
  • If you’re throwing a Christmas party that’s more casual and low-key, you may not want to make it seem like a holiday party at all. Instead of going overboard on decorations, focus on making the food and drinks feel festive.
